Kinja'd!!!

My local BMW dealership invited me to an event where they give your car a free inspection, show off some new cars (/M 235i!), and allow you to test drive a few (325dT!). It's free since they will most likely find an issue with your car (my wife's car had a leaking oil filter housing that I already knew about) and they assume that you'll want to get it fixed there (I'm not paying $600 labor to install a $6 gasket, thank you very much).

So while I was there I chatted with my old service rep ("old" since I only took my 535i there for warranty service) about our M5s while my son kept himself occupied with a handful of Hot Wheels (randomly he grabbed an E30 M3 and a E92 M3... or maybe he knew to grab BMWs for the BMW dealership trip... he's pretty smart for 3, so I don't always know). After a few minutes I tore myself away from a discussion about coil-overs to take my son on a test drive of the 325dT. When we got back, the service rep came out with a little box, which contained the little i8 diecast car you see above. My son was stoked!

So some dealership folks are actually pretty cool after all.

If the dealer local to me did this, I'd bring them my e23 745i just to watch the service tech's get really really confused

My local BMW Store has friendly sales and parts people who are never pushy and I have never been talked down to by them.

Sweet! People like that make me happy. MY dealers here are pushy and rude. I hate them.

I've never really had that problem either, but a few times my service rep did not know what he was talking about so I took my car down to the other BMW dealer because they did.

That's really cool! My son didn't get a die cast from them, but the girl at the loaner counter did give him a BMW teddy bear one time. Not as cool but still nice I guess!

Damn, mine is staffed by elitist douchebags. I get glared at on my way to the parts depot, and when I get there the guy will look a little disgusted when I say I'm looking for e36 parts. I try my very best to not to go there, but sometimes you just have to.

I have attended a few BMW events where they give you a sort of coupon book that you can use to test the cars in the track.

Obiously the sportier models require more coupons and have longer queues and you need to follow an experienced BMW-hired driver leading the pack, but you cn still manage to hoon the cars a little bit.

They have to change the tires in the M cars anywhere from 2 to 5 times per day to keep the attendants safe nd the limits of the car high enough to make you want to buy one.
